Police in St. Catharines have released video footage in an effort to identify the driver of a pickup truck involved in a disturbing incident at a busy intersection last month.
On March 23, at 6:45 p.m., Niagara Regional Police responded to a call from the area of Welland Avenue and Niagara Street. According to police, a black pickup truck and a beige SUV were both stopped at a red light when the truck suddenly accelerated and collided with the rear of the SUV, pushing it through the intersection. The video, captured from a traffic light standard above, shows the pickup truck continuing to push the SUV further down Welland Avenue, narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic.
The driver of the truck fled the scene without stopping. Fortunately, police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
The truck involved is described as a black two-door Ford F-150, and the driver is believed to be a white female with blonde hair.
Police are asking anyone with information or the driver herself to come forward.
